Pediatric speech therapy in DC & Northern Virginia

Your child deserves support that celebrates who they are. Choose Kind Therapy offers child-led, neurodiversity-affirming speech-language therapy for children and their caregivers, with goals that support connection, autonomy and everyday communication.

Support built around your child

We partner with families on speech clarity, language development, meaningful communication and self-advocacy. We welcome different ways of communicating, including gestures, scripts, speech and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Your child’s interests, sensory preferences and strengths help guide our work.

For children who communicate through scripts or gestalt language, we respect those messages and collaborate with caregivers to understand their meaning. Goals are individualized rather than focused on making a child appear less neurodivergent.

What sessions can look like

Sessions may include play, favorite activities, books and everyday routines. We follow your child’s lead, create opportunities for communication and share practical ways caregivers can support connection between visits. We respect consent and do not make eye contact, compliance or masking the goal of therapy.

Mobile and online options

We offer mobile sessions in Washington, DC and Northern Virginia, including Arlington. Teletherapy is available in DC, Virginia and Vermont when it fits your child’s needs and clinician availability. Contact us to discuss your location and whether home, community or online sessions are a good fit.

Common questions

Does my child need to speak to participate?

No. We value communication in all its forms and can explore AAC and other supports alongside speech.

Will caregivers be involved?

Yes. Your observations and priorities matter. We collaborate on strategies that fit your family’s routines and capacity.

How do we know if it is a good fit?

A consultation is a chance to ask questions about our approach and share what matters to your family. Availability varies by clinician; Caleigh is not accepting new clients.
